Guided walkthroughs in the INKY console

The console can walk you through itself. A walkthrough is a short sequence of highlights that points at real parts of the page you are on and says what each one is. Orientation, not instruction. Nothing a walkthrough does changes a setting.

Starting one

Press Show me around in the top bar. It is on every page. It opens a panel headed Guided tours, listing the walkthroughs available to you and what you have done with each. Tour and walkthrough mean the same thing here; the console uses both words.

  • Start. You have not taken it.

  • Resume. You began it and stopped.

  • Done. You finished it. You can take it again.

The panel also offers All tours and your progress, which opens a full page of everything available to you, and Browse the help center.

What is available

What you are offered depends on your account, because a walkthrough that points at a page you cannot reach is not one you can take. Two carry the trial.

Find your way around INKY

The console's furniture. The navigation, the team and time-range selectors, the search, the user menu, support. Twelve stops, a few minutes. Take it first if the console is new to you.

The same ground in writing: Top Navigation Menu, Switching Teams & Time Ranges and Command Palette (Cmd+K).

Reading the Overview

How to read the Overview page. The verdict at the top, the threat categories, who is being targeted, the trend over time, and how to compare periods. Take it once mail has been flowing for a day or two, because it makes far more sense over real data.

In writing: Dashboard Overview.

Those two are the whole catalog. There is no walkthrough attached to an individual card on Home; each card links straight to the settings page it is about.

How they behave

  • Escape closes one at any point. So does clicking away from it.

  • Stopping part-way is fine. The console remembers where you got to and offers Resume.

  • A walkthrough can cross pages. Some navigate as they go. That is the walkthrough moving you, not a misclick.

  • Nothing is forced on you. Dismiss a walkthrough and it will not reappear uninvited. The launcher keeps it available.

  • They are per person, not per team. Your progress is yours. A colleague administering the same team starts fresh.

If the launcher says there are none

"There are no walkthroughs for this account yet" means every walkthrough we have points at something this login cannot reach. That happens most on accounts with a narrow permission set. The help center covers the same ground in writing, and the trial Home page still guides you through setup.
