Your INKY trial: what you get and how long it lasts

What the trial is
Your INKY trial is a working deployment of INKY on your own mail. Not a demo environment, not a sandbox. Real mail flows through it, real threats get flagged, and anything you configure during the trial stays configured if you go on to buy.
Everything else waits on one thing. Mail has to reach INKY. Until it does, the detection settings have nothing to run against, the reports have nothing to chart, and the cards on the Home page stay locked. Getting there is the first thing the console asks you to do, and Getting protected: the nine setup steps covers it.
How long it lasts
Most trials run 30 days. The exact length is set when your trial is created, so read it off the console rather than counting days yourself. The trial home page shows Day 4 of 30 and 26 days left. A band across the top of every page carries the same count.
INKY emails the trial administrator as the end date approaches. You will hear from us about a week out, again a few days out, and on the final day.
Each organization gets one trial. Your Kaseya representative can confirm whether yours has already used it.
What is included
A trial gives you INKY's inbound email security in full: the analysis engine, the warning banners your staff see, quarantine, the message feed, reporting, and the admin console.
Two things vary. Some capabilities depend on which INKY bundle your trial was set up with, and some depend on how you route mail.
Bundle. Account takeover detection and DMARC domain checks belong to INKY's higher tier. If your trial does not include them, the console still shows the cards and marks them unavailable, so you can see what they do.
Routing. Email signatures and account takeover detection need your outgoing mail routed through INKY as well as incoming. An inbound-only setup protects your staff in full. It cannot do the outbound work.
For what sits in each bundle, see INKY Email Security Bundles.
What the console looks like during a trial
A trial console is the normal INKY console with three additions.
A band across the top of every page. While mail is not reaching INKY it says so and offers the next setup step. Once you are protected it becomes a trial-day counter. You cannot dismiss it, because what it says matters.
A Home page built for the trial. Your status in one sentence, the setup checklist, and a set of optional things to try. See Your trial home page.
Guided walkthroughs. Reachable from Show me around in the top bar. See Guided walkthroughs in the INKY console.

Everything else is the shipping product: Overview, Analysis, Quarantine, Reports, Admin Center. For a general orientation rather than a trial-specific one, start with Understanding INKY Basics and Dashboard Overview.
What to do with the 30 days
Get mail flowing on day one, then turn on as much of INKY as applies to you.
Whether a real attack lands during your 30 days is down to your mail, and you cannot make one arrive. Catching one is a good day. It is not the measure of the trial. What you control is how much of the product you put to work, and that is what tells you whether INKY belongs in your organization.
Day 1. Finish the nine setup steps so mail is flowing. Nothing else produces evidence until this is done.
Days 2 to 3. Let INKY watch your mail. Spear phishing protection needs a short training period before its warnings start, so switch it on now rather than in week three.
Day 3 onward. Work through the cards on the Home page. Brand the banner, fill in your VIP list, set spam sensitivity, turn on graymail handling, read your DMARC findings. Each takes minutes, and each shows you a different part of INKY. See Getting more from your trial: the eight tracks.
Before the end date. Decide, and tell us. See Continuing with INKY after your trial.
Getting help during the trial
The Kaseya helpdesk supports your trial, at helpdesk.kaseya.com. The console has a support option in the top bar, and this help center covers the product in depth.
